For more than 20 years, I was a TV reporter, anchor, and producer, so I've seen my fair share of pitches from well-meaning public relations professionals.
When I moved over to the so-called "dark side," I vowed not to repeat a lot of the same mistakes I saw PR people make when pitching my newsrooms, such as spraying us with story ideas we'd never consider covering.
I vowed that I'd offer up my clients as resources to hard-working journalists who are just trying to meet their deadlines and usually doing much more with much less.
I wrote about this topic in-depth in a previous blog post, but we're revisiting it in the latest episode of "Two Friends Talking Trends."
